Exciting Changes at Apex: A Look Into Our Transformative Journey

Since being acquired by BGF, one of the UK and Northern Ireland’s largest private equity investment firms, in 2022, Apex has been on a path of transformation, all aimed at enhancing our services and partnerships for the better.

We want to highlight the key developments that have been shaping Apex in recent months, as well as some exciting upcoming improvements designed to benefit our valued partners.

Leadership Additions and Team Expansions

Over the past year, we’ve welcomed a number of experienced professionals to the Apex team, each bringing a wealth of expertise and fresh perspectives to help drive our growth.

  • Vatche Cherchian joined as CEO in late 2023, bringing with him extensive experience leading one of London’s largest lettings agencies. His leadership is steering Apex towards new heights.

  • Katie Keene, our new CFO, is focused on modernizing our finance department, ensuring greater efficiency and accuracy in all financial operations.

  • In August 2024, Mike Hookway came on board as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). With his background managing thousands of properties across London, Mike has already begun enhancing the services we offer to landlords, letting agents, and local authorities.

  • Adam Green took on the role of Head of Lettings in mid-2024. Adam’s focus is on refining our stock acquisition process to ensure we provide high-quality properties for our partners.

  • Our new in-house legal counsel, Amy Shafto, is streamlining our legal processes, allowing us to handle property legislation and possession proceedings with greater speed and efficiency.

  • Hanek Virdee joined as Client Relationships and Renewals Manager, ensuring smoother communication between Apex, landlords, agents, and councils. Hanek’s role is essential to speeding up renewals and addressing concerns promptly.

  • Elha Humbler joined as Finance Manager, working alongside Katie to restructure and improve the financial services we offer, such as better statements and account communication.

In addition to these key roles, we’ve brought in other talented team members like Mercy Okereke, who joins with property management experience from a leading London high street agent, Showrov Abul, who continues to help procure high-quality properties, and Michael Anyanebechi will lead our property visits and inspections team as our Senior Property Liaison Manager.

Upgrades and Improvements on the Horizon

As a result of these new appointments, every department at Apex is seeing improvements, and we’re committed to delivering an even better experience for our partners. Here are some of the exciting upgrades you can expect to see soon:

  • Enhanced check-in and check-out processes: A more rigorous system will document property conditions and ensure that any outstanding maintenance is quickly addressed.

  • Improved property inspections: Our team will now act as the eyes and ears on your properties, identifying potential issues early and resolving them before they escalate.

  • Streamlined legal proceedings: With Amy on board, we can now handle legal matters more swiftly, including gaining possession of properties when necessary.

  • On-shoring of property management: Historically, our property management was run from overseas, but with our recent growth, we’ve recognized the need for a more localized approach. Mike has recruited four experienced London-based property managers who will be joining the team soon. This will offer our partners a more personalized service, with a single point of contact who will be deeply familiar with your property.

  • Enhanced compliance and property checks: We’re introducing dedicated Property Liaison Managers to ensure compliance with safety regulations, such as smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and to conduct regular property checks.

These improvements are designed to make your experience with Apex smoother, more efficient, and more reliable. Whether it’s streamlined processes, improved communication, or a more personalized service, we’re dedicated to enhancing the way we work with you, our valued partners.
