Troubleshooting Heating and Hot Water

Check the Thermostat

Is it on? Ensure the thermostat is powered on and set to the desired temperature.

Check the settings: Make sure it’s set to “heat” or “hot water” mode, depending on your need.

Battery issues: If it’s a battery-operated thermostat, replace the batteries.

Verify the Power Supply

Is the boiler powered on? Confirm the boiler has power. Look for lights or display indicators on the boiler.

Switches: Ensure all necessary switches (e.g, isolation switch near boiler) are turned on.

Circuit breaker: Check your home’s fuse box or circuit breaker for any tripped switches.

Boiler Pressure

Normal Range: Boiler pressure should typically be between 1 and 2 bars.

Low pressure: If the pressure is below 1 bar, you may need to repressurise the system. Refer to your boiler manual for instructions.

Reset the Boiler

Reset button: Many boilers have a reset button. Press and hold it for 5-10 seconds.

Allow time: After resetting, give the boiler a few minutes to restart.

Error Codes

Display panel: Most modern boilers show error codes on their display. Refer to the boiler manual or manufacturer’s website to understand the codes.

Timer / Programmer Settings

Correct time: Make sure the timer or programmer is set to the correct time and schedule.

Active program: Confirm the heating or hot water program is active.
